Jojoba Oil

Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil

Technically a liquid wax, not an oil — which is why it absorbs cleanly without blocking pores. It makes up 90% of Still, acting as the carrier that dilutes the essential oils to a safe, skin-ready concentration.

How it works: Its long-chain ester structure closely mirrors the skin's own sebum, making it exceptionally well-tolerated and non-irritating in repeated-use studies.

Lavender Essential Oil

Lavandula Angustifolia Oil · 7%

True lavender from Lavandula angustifolia, not lavandin. The dominant component linalool gives it the characteristic calm, floral character that makes Still what it is.

Clinical evidence: Inhalation of lavender oil has been associated with reductions in self-reported anxiety in multiple controlled studies. (Koulivand PH et al., Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, 2013)

Frankincense Essential Oil

Boswellia Carterii Oil · 3%

Distilled from Boswellia carterii resin. Rich in monoterpenes including α-pinene and limonene, it adds a warm, woody depth that grounds the lavender and extends Still's scent through the day.

How it works: α-Pinene is believed to interact with GABA receptors — the same pathway involved in many relaxation responses — making it a complementary pairing with lavender's linalool.

What you smell in Still is lavender and frankincense — nothing else. No 'parfum,' ever. What you smell is the plant.

The Allergen Declarations

Linalool

Not an added ingredient — linalool occurs naturally within lavender oil. At 7% lavender in Still, it exceeds the 0.001% leave-on disclosure threshold and is declared on the label. Brands using 'parfum' can blur this; we list it plainly.

Your questions, answered

  • Is Still suitable for sensitive skin?

    Still is formulated for general adult use and is free from alcohol, synthetic fragrance, and common irritants, which many people with sensitive skin appreciate. The essential oil concentration is 10% total — within the limits assessed as safe in our CPSR.

    That said, lavender oil contains linalool, a naturally occurring compound that can occasionally cause reactions in those with fragrance sensitivities. If your skin is reactive, we'd suggest a patch test on the inner arm for 24 hours before use on pulse points.

  • Where does Still fit in my routine?

    Still is a leave-on roller oil — apply it after any skincare steps have been absorbed. Roll onto clean, dry pulse points: wrists, inner elbow, temples, or the sides of the neck.

    It works morning or evening. Many people use it as a ritual moment — a deliberate pause — rather than a fixed step in a skincare sequence. The fragrance will carry for several hours; reapply as often as you like.

  • Can I use Still during pregnancy?

    Still does not contain clary sage (Salvia Sclarea) or high-menthol peppermint (Mentha Piperita) — the two essential oils our CPSR specifically flags as requiring a precautionary pregnancy warning. It has been assessed under UK Cosmetics Regulation SI 2020/1466.

    Even so, we always recommend checking with your midwife or GP before introducing any new product during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, as individual circumstances vary.

  • Why does Still list linalool as an allergen?

    Linalool occurs naturally in lavender oil and, because Still contains 7% Lavandula Angustifolia Oil, the linalool level in the finished product exceeds the 0.001% threshold that requires declaration on leave-on cosmetics under UK allergen regulations.

    It isn't an added ingredient — it's inseparable from the lavender itself. We list it because the regulations require it, and because we'd rather you know. Brands that list 'parfum' can obscure this kind of information; we don't.

  • Does Still contain any synthetic ingredients?

    Still contains three ingredients — jojoba oil, lavender essential oil, and frankincense essential oil — all of them nature-derived and plant-based. There are no synthetic fragrance compounds, no preservatives (not needed in an anhydrous oil), and no 'parfum' catch-all.

    The full INCI list on the label reads: Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia Oil, Boswellia Carterii Oil. That's it.

  • Do I need to avoid the sun after applying Still?

    No sun-avoidance precaution is required for Still. It doesn't contain bergamot, lime, lemon, grapefruit, or any other expressed citrus oil that could cause phototoxicity.

    Please note: Still contains no sun protection factor and does not prevent sunburn. Apply an SPF separately if you'll be in direct sun.

  • How is Still made, and how fresh is it?

    Still is made in small batches in Maidenhead, Berkshire, by cold-blending the jojoba base with the pre-weighed essential oil blend. Each batch is labelled with a batch number and manufacture date for full traceability.

    Because it's anhydrous (no water), it's inherently shelf-stable — no preservatives needed and a minimum 30-month shelf life when stored below 25°C, away from direct light. The PAO symbol on the label is 12 months once opened.

  • Why is Still in a 10ml amber roller rather than a larger bottle?

    Still is designed for pulse-point use — a few swipes to wrists, temples, or neck. At that application rate, 10ml lasts well over a month of daily use, and the roller bottle format means you apply only what you need without waste.

    The amber glass protects the essential oils from light degradation, which is the main enemy of a product like this. We chose size and format for function, not convention.

  • Why is Still £9.50 when I can buy lavender oil for much less?

    Still is a finished, UK safety-assessed cosmetic product — not a raw material. The price reflects the CPSR, the formulation work, the amber glass roller packaging, and the small-batch production in Berkshire.

    You could mix your own, and plenty of people do. But Still saves you the sourcing, the safety assessment, and the blending — and it comes ready to use, with full allergen and batch traceability on the label.
