Licky Lips Rescue Balm | Natural Calendula & Castor Oil Lip & Perioral Balm

Soothing Lip Balm · Small-batch Berkshire · Fragrance-free · Ages 3+

The Licky Lips Rescue Balm by Audere Pure is a fragrance-free lip and perioral balm that does something most lip balms don't — it stays put. A Castor Oil base at 38% creates a film-forming seal around the mouth that holds Calendula Infused Oil, Jojoba and Shea in close contact with the skin for hours, not minutes. For dry, chapped, sore lips and the irritated skin around the mouth. £8.50 for 10g.

Calendula Infused Oil at 15% calms redness and supports the skin's natural healing response. Jojoba at 15% rebuilds the skin's lipid barrier from the outside in — the same barrier that gets depleted by constant licking, cold weather or dry air. Shea Butter at 18% creates an anti-inflammatory protective seal. And because it contains no fragrance, no essential oils and no allergens to declare, it's safe for even the most reactive skin — from toddlers to adults.

One honest note: the formula tastes of Castor Oil — not unpleasant, but distinctly medicinal. For the perioral skin around the mouth, that's actually part of what makes it work — the taste discourages licking, which helps skin heal faster. For everyday lip use, a little goes a long way and the taste fades quickly.

EVERY INGREDIENT, EXPLAINED

If it's in the jar, it's on the label — and here's exactly why it's there. Swipe through.

Castor Oil

Ricinus Communis Seed Oil

The reason this balm works differently. At 38%, Castor Oil is film-forming — it creates a physical seal on lips and the surrounding skin that actually stays put rather than sliding off every time you speak, eat or yes, lick. It holds every other active ingredient in close contact with the skin for hours.

How it works: High in ricinoleic acid — a unique fatty acid with documented antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. The same film-forming quality that makes Castor Oil the base of most professional lip treatments worldwide.

Calendula Infused Oil

Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil (and) Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract

Sunflower oil infused with Marigold — one of the most studied botanicals for irritated, inflamed skin. It's doing meaningful therapeutic work: calming redness, soothing soreness and actively supporting the skin's own healing response rather than just protecting the surface.

How it works: Calendula flavonoids and terpenoids have documented anti-inflammatory and antiseptic activity. Used in wound healing preparations for centuries — there's a good reason it keeps appearing in serious skin formulas.

Jojoba Oil

Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil

The rebuilder. Most lip balms coat the surface and stop there. Jojoba's molecular structure so closely mimics the skin's own lipid layer that it helps rebuild the skin barrier from the outside in. Used consistently, it genuinely improves your lips' own ability to retain moisture — rather than creating dependency on constant reapplication.

How it works: Technically a liquid wax, not an oil. Its unique ester composition mimics human sebum more closely than any other plant ingredient, making it exceptionally well-tolerated even by the most sensitive skin.

Shea Butter

Butyrospermum Parkii Butter

Rich, nourishing, genuinely anti-inflammatory. At 18% — a meaningful concentration — Shea forms a protective barrier while its triterpene alcohols actively calm redness and soreness. For cracked, chapped or irritated lips and the skin around them, Shea is doing more than just moisturising.

How it works: Shea's triterpenes (lupeol, butyrospermol) have shown anti-inflammatory activity in skin models. (CIR Expert Panel, International Journal of Toxicology, 2017)

Fractionated Coconut Oil

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride

The comfort ingredient. Light, silky, absorbs instantly and leaves no greasy residue. Completely odourless and tasteless. Safe for nut-allergic skin — the fractionation process removes the allergenic proteins entirely. Also acts as a delivery vehicle, helping Calendula and Shea penetrate the skin more effectively.

Candelilla Wax

Euphorbia Cerifera Cera

Plant-derived wax from the Candelilla shrub — vegan, heat-stable and what gives the balm its firm, scoopable texture in the jar. At 6% it adds another layer of barrier protection on the skin surface, holding moisture in and keeping environmental irritants out. Won't melt in a school bag on a warm day.

Vitamin E

Tocopherol (and) Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil

A natural antioxidant doing two jobs simultaneously — protecting the oils in the formula from oxidising so every jar performs the same from first dip to last, and supporting the skin's own healing process at the lip and perioral tissue.

The Scent — There Isn't One

No parfum · No essential oils · No fragrance allergens

Nothing in this formula is added for scent. No essential oils, no parfum, no flavour. That's a deliberate choice — fragrance is one of the most common triggers for sensitive perioral skin, and a balm used around the mouth and on lips should be as clean as possible. No fragrance allergens to declare, because there are none.

Your questions, answered

  • What is Licky Lips Rescue Balm and what is it for?

Licky Lips Rescue Balm by Audere Pure is a fragrance-free lip and perioral balm designed for dry, chapped, sore lips and the irritated skin around the mouth — the kind that gets worse in winter, or with children who habitually lick their lips.

It works because the Castor Oil base actually stays put rather than sliding off immediately. Most lip balms give instant comfort that lasts minutes. This one creates a film-forming seal that holds Calendula, Jojoba and Shea in contact with the skin for hours — which is when the real repair work happens.

  • Is Licky Lips Rescue Balm suitable for children?

Yes — Licky Lips Rescue Balm is suitable for ages 3 and over, and is specifically designed with children in mind. It contains no fragrance, no essential oils, no allergens to declare and no nuts — making it one of the cleanest lip balms available for young, sensitive skin.

It contains no ingredients that are restricted for use in children, and the formula has been independently safety assessed. Completely safe for the perioral area — the skin around the mouth — which is particularly vulnerable in children who lick their lips habitually in cold or dry weather.

  • Why does Licky Lips Rescue Balm taste the way it does?

Licky Lips Rescue Balm tastes of Castor Oil — distinctly medicinal rather than sweet. That's intentional. We could have added flavouring to mask it, but adding fragrance or flavour to a balm designed for irritated perioral skin contradicts the whole point of a fragrance-free formula.

For the perioral skin around the mouth, the taste is actually part of what makes it work — it naturally discourages licking, which helps the skin heal faster. For everyday lip use, a small amount is all you need and the taste fades quickly once it's on.

  • Can I use Licky Lips Rescue Balm as an everyday lip balm?

Yes — Licky Lips Rescue Balm works beautifully as an everyday lip balm, not just a targeted treatment. The Castor Oil, Calendula, Jojoba and Shea combination is one of the most nourishing lip formulas available, and used daily it genuinely improves how dry your lips get over time rather than creating dependency on constant reapplication.

Jojoba in particular helps rebuild the lip's own lipid barrier from the outside in — so lips become less prone to dryness with regular use, not more. It's especially good as a winter lip balm applied at night.

  • Is Licky Lips Rescue Balm suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes — Licky Lips Rescue Balm is specifically formulated for sensitive skin. It contains no fragrance, no essential oils, no parfum, no allergens to declare and no nuts. The Fractionated Coconut Oil used in the formula has the allergenic proteins removed during fractionation, making it hypoallergenic.

Full INCI: Ricinus Communis Seed Oil, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil (and) Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Euphorbia Cerifera Cera, Tocopherol (and) Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil. Patch test on the wrist before applying to the face if in any doubt.

  • How do I use Licky Lips Rescue Balm?

Scoop a small amount with a clean fingertip and apply to lips and the surrounding skin. Leave it on — this is a leave-on balm, not a rinse-off product. Reapply as often as needed throughout the day, and always apply at night before bed when it has the most time to work undisturbed.

For the perioral area, apply in a gentle ring around the mouth extending slightly beyond where the soreness starts. A little goes a long way. One jar contains 80–100+ applications at normal use.

  • Is Licky Lips Rescue Balm safe during pregnancy?

Licky Lips Rescue Balm contains no retinoids, no essential oils, no salicylic acid at active levels, no parabens and no synthetic fragrance — making it one of the cleanest lip balms available for use during pregnancy.

The formula is fragrance-free and contains only plant-derived ingredients and Vitamin E. Always check with your midwife or GP if you have any specific concerns about any product during pregnancy.

  • Does Licky Lips Rescue Balm contain parfum or fragrance allergens?

No — Licky Lips Rescue Balm contains no parfum and no fragrance allergens of any kind. There are no essential oils, no synthetic fragrance and no flavourings in the formula. This means there are no fragrance allergens to declare on the label — because there are none present.

Licky Lips Rescue Balm is completely scent-free because fragrance on already-irritated perioral skin can make things worse rather than better. Clean label, clean formula.

  • Why is Licky Lips Rescue Balm £8.50 when regular lip balms are cheaper?

Licky Lips Rescue Balm is £8.50 for 10g — made in small batches in Berkshire with Calendula Infused Oil at 15%, Jojoba Oil at 15% and Shea Butter at 18% alongside a Castor Oil base that actually stays on. Its closest pharmacy equivalent, Eucerin Acute Lip Balm, sells at £8.00 for the same size — and that's a synthetic formula without Calendula or Jojoba.

A jar contains 80–100+ applications, making it around 8–10p per use. Completely fragrance-free, independently safety assessed, UK-made and formulated with the perioral skin specifically in mind.
