When to Take Magnesium (and Where Body Butter Fits In)
Share
There's no single best time to take magnesium. Consistency matters more than the clock.
It's getting dark early, and magnesium is everywhere right now. Here's the plain version, from me.
What it is
Magnesium is an essential mineral. Your body uses it for muscles, nerves, energy and bone health. The NHS says adults need around 270mg (women) to 300mg (men) a day. Most of us can get that from food: leafy greens, nuts, seeds and wholegrains.
Where a body butter fits in
I'll be straight with you. My Magnesium Body Butter is skincare, not a supplement. Food comes first for your magnesium.
What the butter gives you is the other half of winding down: the scent, the feel, and ten minutes that are just yours.
Your bedtime wind-down
The day's done. You've been on your feet all day, looking after everyone. This is where it stops.
Make it the last thing you do before bed. Hot chocolate, warm bath, then a little of the Magnesium Body Butter warmed between your palms. Work it into your shoulders, your calves, your feet. The bits that carried you all day. Then lights out.
Nobody needs anything from you while you rub it in.
Why I put magnesium in it
Because I wanted an evening butter that felt like a proper switch-off. Magnesium is the one everyone talks about at the end of a long day, and putting it in the jar turned a plain moisturiser into something I actually look forward to.
The warm, rich feel, the lavender or sweet orange, the ten minutes that are yours: that's what helps you relax and unwind. It's the bit of my evening I'd least like to lose, and I hope it becomes yours too.
What you get
- A full stop to your day. The smell of lavender or sweet orange says you're off duty.
- Soft, comfortable skin. Rich enough to feel like a treat, light enough that it's gone in before you've found the blanket. No sticky pyjamas.
- A moment nobody else can ask for.
- No guessing. Everything in the jar is named on the label, and it's made in small batches. Scented with pure essential oils, never parfum.

Know someone who could use a proper wind-down before bed? A friend, a colleague, the one who never stops. The 50g (£11.99) is an easy way to say "I've noticed you. Take a breath." Pop it in a card and pass it over. The 100g is £17.99.
If you're thinking of your whole team, I do gifts for that too. Have a look at corporate gifting.
Your cosy wind-down
- Make the hot chocolate.

Small habit. Big difference to how your evening feels.
